And here's a better deal, the flowers are not the only thing that come in different colours, even the wrappers comes in a variety of hues!! So start matching your clothes with the flowers now!!! In addition to that, here's a little decision making "catalysts", to aid you in choosing the right colour to say the right words:

Color Meaning
red The creative spirit of love. True love stronger than thorns.
True red is the lover's rose.
Amaranth red: long standing desire
Cardinal red: sublime desire
Carmine: deceitful desire (not true to color)
Fieryred: flames of passion.
yellow In Victorian times the rose meant jealousy. Maybe our thoughts have changed. Today it is given as a sign of friendship, sometimes as a sign of sympathy. It is the rose of familiar love and domestic happiness. The yellow rose of Texas is the only rose for me.
white Loyalty, penetrating and platonic love. Able to captivate secret thought, love stronger than death. In England there is a saying about the white rose referring to the sub rosa, death to him who under my secrecy betrays his oath. In Scotland when the white rose bloomed in autumn it was seen as a token of early marriage. The rose of confession, the bridal rose, the rose of servitude. Can be otherworldly.
pink Grace, gentility, elegance and refinement. The rose of sweet thoughts.
purple Purple adds enchantment. Can be transcendental. Possible need to proceed cautiously. The priests wear lavender during lent, a time of discretion. Purple can indicate opulence or majesty.
orange A warm color that says, I am proud of you.
blue Fantasy and impossibility. Hoping for a miracle and new possibilities. Many people have a quest or a fascination for blue roses. I have a book by Ibn al Awam, which was written in the twelfth century, translated into French by J. J. Clement entitled Le livre de l'agriculture. the book speaks of azure blue roses that were known to the orient. These blue roses were attained by placing a blue die into the bark of the roots. This process is explained in the book and has been proven to work by Joret, a very knowledgeable french scientist.
black The color of the crone, the wise lady of death. The promise that soon you will know something you did not know before. Some see it as a bad omen. Death of fixed thoughts or ideas. Signifies a rejuvenation on the horizon. May not be understood as a gift. Les fleurs du mal from which beauty springs. Sometimes a beautiful deep red rose will bloom from a blackened bud.

Hold your horses!! Choosing the right colour is important, but the number of flowers too have their own say!!! Check it out!!

1 Rose: Love at the first sight. The single rose, whatever its color, depicts utmost devotion to a single person. "All my deepest affections are concentrated in you".

2 Roses: Mutual feelings, especially if they are red in color speak of two people who are deeply in love and together form their own happy little world.

3 Roses: Stand for the three words in "I Love You", and seek to convey this very simple yet powerful message

5 Roses: I love you very much

6 Roses: I love you, I miss you. Speak of tthe need to be loved and cherished.

7 Roses: I'm infatuated with you

9 Roses: Together as long as we live

10 Roses: You are pretty

11 Roses: You're my treasured one. To assure someone that he or she is truly and deeply loved.

12 Roses: Be my steady

13 Roses: Forever friends. Also indicate that there is a secret admirer waiting to be discovered.

15 Roses: I'm really sorry

Garang Guni

The yearly tradition of the Rotaract Club of NTU, the Garang Guni, was once again carried out today. Just like every other year, the aim of this event is to collect used but reusable items to raise fund for the charity. Items that were collected includes old newspaper, second hand electronic devices, worn-out clothes, you name it.

An approximate figure of 80 enthusiastic members from the Rotaract Club of Nanyang Technological University took part in this event. At as early as 8am, members including the main committee and sub committee were seen approaching from different directions to Canteen A before taking off to the destination. As the saying goes, the early bird gets the worms, those who were punctual get their chance to take their breakfast while waiting for the other members to breeze in. When all the members are in place, we took a bus to the destination, which lies in Jurong West, Boon Lay. We reached there at about 8.45am and then we were separated into groups, in which each group is in charge of different blocks. After all, the smaller the number, the easier they are to handle.

We started our event at about 9 where we went from lots to lots of different flats to collect old items, for instance, old newspaper, clothes, old electrical appliances etc. We had quite an unsatisfying start, as the response wasn't so pleasurable since it was still quite early. 9am on a Saturday morning is like the crack of the dawn, as weekends are times everyone use to rest and recuperate from the hustle and bustle of weekdays life. Later on when it was about 11, the response was more pleasant. We were able to collect quite an amount of old items before this Garang Guni event came to an end.

"Hello Ma'am, I'm not any suspicious looking person, please listen to what I have to say before slamming the door on my nose. . ."
Just like the train, our event started off at a slow pace, with nothing much gained at the beginning.
"Further on the day, woah, even such a brand new looking standing fan? Can I have it for my room please?"
"Loading the stuffs into the lorry is one hell of a task, let's take a break shall we? And while we're at it, you can snap our cool looking faces. . ."
"If only this mountain of papers is cash. . ."

The event reached its finishing line at about 2pm in the afternoon. All the members headed back to Nanyang Technogical University after the event. The event has collected roughly about SG$600 which is to be donated to charity. It was a day of hard labour but also filled with fun, with interactions among members like never before as it was a rare occasion that members gathering in such a number to work together. Normally it would be just the same ol' people from your committee and eventually you'll get bored seeing the same faces around. Today, it really exposed all the members to each other. Thus, the Garang Guni will stay as an undying tradition of the Rotaract Club of NTU as it is not only beneficial to the public, but also a good mean of promoting teamwork among the members of different committee.
